NGO-CEDAW continues to call for amendments to the law on domestic violence. The law should clearly identify which criminal laws should be applied to domestic violence situations. This week, one man beat his wife, used a knife against her, then tied her up, covered her in gasoline and tried to light her on fire. He is being charged with violence against a spouse rather than more serious charges such as torture and cruel acts or attempting to commit murder.
