About the Artist:
Tumnuenh Writers (TNW) is a group of independent writers who are dedicated to publish short stories and novels to promote particular writing attributes which have been severely ignored in the local literature work yet in fact, are timeless conventions with significant roles in the forefront of our universal imagination in developing a fiction. Those key attributes include the importance of psychology in fiction, cinematic visual storytelling, narrative intertextuality and creative explorations of genre. Our goal as a whole is to enhance the quality of storytelling and writing in Cambodia or at least, bring new possibilities and inspirations that allow diverse experimentation and a glimpse of creative freedom among the new wave of local writers and novelists.
Seng Reaksmey is a BA graduate, a writer, producer and a filmmaker. Before participating in the Dignity Cambodia Project by NGO-CEDAW, she had written a number of screenplays for Television, Advertisement content, Film and several unpublished short stories and novel manuscripts. Her passion for storytelling had developed since childhood, and by combining with her later experience in career life, knowledge from social volunteering works and a keen interest in making social commentary through fiction, Reaksmey is overwhelmed with dedication to craft particular stories about marginalized group of people who are often ignored, neglected and forgotten by the medias and various communities in Cambodia, and she would like to tell stories from their point of view and explore ranges of their mental state with respect and honesty and without any form of exploitation.
About the Novel book:
My Dear Friend is a psychological thriller novella features two garment factory workers share their experiences of domestic violence and became best friend who save each other from miserable life and surviving from both physical and emotional pain. The story purpose to get reader understand the feelings of vulnerable people who are suffering and no opportunity to seek justice. I hope this story could spread more awareness of victims feelings and to get them gain more attention and a chance to heal.
