Coalition Members

Why join NGO-CEDAW?

  • Opportunity to attend training on the CEDAW, Gender-Based Violence, Relevant Laws, and the CEDAW Monitoring Framework.
  • Opportunity to share up-to-date information with other members on challenges, policies and related legislation.
  • Opportunity to create joint programs to raise funds to support the implementation of activities.
  • There is a strong voice in advocacy.
  • Contribute to monitoring the implementation of the CEDAW and prepare a follow-up report or shadow report to the United Nations.

Criterias to be a member

  • Independence of organizations or associations that do not serve the interests of political parties
  • Registered with the Ministry of Interior or with a union
  • Take action to improve the status of women, human rights of women and girls and LGBT rights
  • Commit to participating in monitoring the implementation of the CEDAW using the monitoring tools provided by NGO-CEDAW for the institution and sharing that information and data with NGO-CEDAW
  • Do not take any action that restricts or discriminates against women contrary to the NGO-CEDAW gender policy
  • Must attend at least 50% of annual meetings
  • Contribute to annual donations (made voluntarily or by agreement between NGO-CEDAW and members)

Two types of NGO-CEDAWs member

What is a full committee member?

  • The full committee members are local organizations that meet the conditions for joining the committee for more than one year.
  • Have the right to participate in deciding and approving the five-year strategic plan, amend bylaw of the committee.
  • Have the right to elect or stand as a candidate for Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and members of the Steering committee members.

What is an observer member?

  • Organizations or associations that apply for new membership within one year (after receiving a decision from a member or committee member 50% + 1).
  • A local or international organization that seeks to collaborate through the participation of specific sub-committees to monitor and prepare monitoring and shadow reports with NGO-CEDAW.
  • Observer members have the right to attend and comment on NGO-CEDAW meetings, but have no right to elect or stand for election as chairperson and vice-chairperson or members of the Steering Committee members.
