On 27 December 2023, NGO-CEDAW held a launch event for the 2022 CEDAW Monitoring Report for Cambodia. The report is a summary of key concerns and events related to the rights of women, girls, and nonbinary persons which occurred in 2022.
More than 50 partners from various sectors attended, including representatives of government ministries (Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Ministry of Interior, and Cambodia National Committee for Women), UN agencies, media, NGO-CEDAW members, national and international partners, and members of the public.
At the event, NGO-CEDAW presented the methodology of the report, key findings and recommendations, and held two panel discussions in which representatives of NGO-CEDAW member organizations which contributed to the report on different topics discussed the findings. Participants posed questions to the panelists and engaged in an informative discussion of themes ranging from gender-based violence to healthcare and women in leadership.
NGO-CEDAW also issued a joint statement calling on the Royal Government of Cambodia to take concrete steps to address issues identified in the report.
