Congratulations to team CACTUS for winning the first place in the “Women and Unpaid Work” Debate Competition this third season. The University Debate is held once a year with the participation of young people from different universities where to give them the opportunity to learn on debating techniques or methods, knowledge on gender, research, team work. Then they can come up with any possible solutions to respond positively to gender inequality in Cambodia, as well as contribute to public outreach of the above knowledge.

Then they can come up with any possible solutions to respond positively to gender inequality in Cambodia, as well as contribute to public outreach of the above knowledge.
Before reaching the final debate on May 28, 2023, the youth team went through several rounds of qualifying rounds. All youth received the training on general knowledge about gender, which is at least a new knowledge for many young people, according to the survey. With the theme for this year’s competition on “Women and Unpaid Work”, the organizing team and the NGO-CEDAW organized a refresher course for the candidates, including:

2. Training on Discrimination and the Wheels of Discrimination
3. Mock Debate
4. Semi-final debate
5. Final Debate

Total of participants on the Final debate was 68 (56 female).
